about thirtysixstories

merlin mann; who is in my opinion the funniest on-again-off-again twitterer/blogger/writer/jerk in the world posted the following article and descriptions of story archetypes via Georges Polti.  my aim here is to write a story strictly adhering to each archetype, using the same characters in each tale.  i have never written a complete story before.  i am doing this as an exercise; and putting it out into the universe because it will probably make me complete at least a few of them.

The Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations

The Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations is a descriptive list which was created by Georges Polti to categorize every dramatic situation that might occur in a story or performance. To do this Polti analyzed classical Greek texts, plus classical and contemporaneous French works. He also analyzed a handful of non-French authors. In his introduction, Polti claims to be continuing the work of Carlo Gozzi, who also identified 36 situations.
